Summer Wrap Up

 Hey all you classic readers!

It's been a busy summer for our book group and yet we are going strong.

July 1st, we were able to do a different kind of book group meeting when we ventured to attend a live performance. Shakespeare in the Park, what could be more classic? A Winter's Tale, as with most of Shakespeare plays it takes a little getting used to the language before the story really can unfold.

Reading Shakespeare has never been easy, but there is point that your understanding or interest in the material starts to click. And what I didn't understand when reading was clarified by watching the actors as they told the tale.

It was a lovely evening, a slight threat of rain. And a well timed thunder clap.

July 6th we had a movie night at Kris' home. Fun time watching a movie without reading a book. Napoleon Dynamite.

The Great Gatsby was our next book selection and we got together to discuss the book and watch the Robert Redford version of the movie. (8/17/2024)

We had a taco night and ate outside with everyone bringing toppings for the tacos. I brought small empanadas to be hors d'oeuvres, my first attempt was just so so.

The Alchemist, 6 of us attended. Kris (hosted), Lorraine, Stef, Peggy Ann, Marcie and me (Sharon).

We had some good food, fresh bread, squash ravioli, salad, ribs, cookies, eclairs, peaches, and Scotcharoos.

The book discussion was lead by Peggy Ann.

This was written a while back and I am playing catch up with my posts.
