Evening and Discussion of The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins

Dear Busy Gals Classic Reading Society Members,

We had a very enjoyable time with Joyce at the last book discussion of 'The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins. We always have such wonderful food to eat.  There was teriyaki pot roast with vegetables, fried chicken tenders, Irish soda bread, finger sandwich wraps, gnocchi with pesto, tortellini with Alfredo sauce, fruit trees-a clever artistic fruit salad.

The discussion could have gone on all night. We did watch the movie, an old production of the book with only one actress that I recognized. Agnes Moorehead the mother of Samantha Stephens from 'Bewitched'. The movie makers really took liberties with the story and we hardly recognized the story when they finished with it.

Still, that is always fun to see what happens to a book when it is made into a film. Being such a long book it would have been a mini series if they had made it exactly like the book, I like them that way too. That is the way this book group is. We like to read the book then watch the movie, sometimes the movie is better than the book and sometimes it is the other way around.  At any rate most of us enjoyed the many facets of this story.
